Sheffield Wedding Photographer

Gary & Rachel have previously featured on my site when I posted their Pre Wedding Shoot images. The weather that evening was a far cry from the conditions on their actual Wedding day. Apart from an hour or so in the evening when we were able to shoot a few portraits around the Sheffield Quays, the weather was constant rain! This however didn't get Rachel down in the slightest as she quite rightly pointed out that the weather is the one things she couldn't plan for.

First thing the morning I headed over to see Gary and his groomsmen as they were all staying under one roof, the boys were all in differing states of readiness when I arrived, ranging from full dressed to polishing shoes in their pants! I left them to it and headed over to Rachel's parent's home to catch up with the girls and shoot their preparations.

This was a completely different atmosphere as the girls were quite chilled out and a bit more ready than the boys. Shortly after I had finished shooting the details on Rachel's stunning white dress, it was time for her to put it on. All the girls looked beautiful in their dresses as you can see in the portraits below.

The church service was emotional and very personal, this is Rachel's family church so many of the congregation know this amazing couple through the church. From here we travelled to The Hilton Hotel in Sheffield, this modern hotel is located at the side of the Sheffield Quays. This to me a real secret location to create striking images, with its array of textures and colours from the old red brick warehouses to the modern hotel's glass walls.

The speeches were brilliant, funny and interesting. One of the speeches even included something that I have never seen before. This is where the guests write down a suggestion for what Gary should do for Rachel and then pop it inside a balloon. These balloons are then selected at random, popped by the newlyweds and the suggestion is read aloud for the party to hear!

This was great fun and a fantastic way to end the speeches and begin the evening reception, which flowed with plenty of music and laughter.

I really enjoyed shooting Gary & Rachel's wedding, back when we first met, they had told me that some photographers had advised them that to cover a wedding at The Hilton, all the photographs would be in black and white. With a mixture of fast lenses and flash, both on and off camera I was able to provide Gary and Rachel a gallery of full colour and of course a few black and white images.
